My new PC is up and running!
- AMD Ryzen 7 1700
- 16GB RAM
- 16GB GTX 1070 STRIX
- Intel 540 SSD of some sort
- Some other shit
- And a case with some gaudy as fuck blinkenlichten (I give it a week before I unplug them)
…and just in time for the Steam Summer Sale. Fuck my wallet.
Over a week ago, during “attempt #5”, I decided to put on a pair of boots I bought a while back that I had yet to wear. I went into the city early to check out a few places, and to also book another appointment with my tattooist (unfortunately he is in Japan at the moment, so nothing came of that), so I did quite a bit of walking in them. BIG MISTAKE. Because of the way they were made, and the fact that I was wearing really thin socks, I ended up with a gross looking and incredibly painful wound on the back of my achilles tendon. Nine days later and I still have a big arsed hole just above the heel of my left foot. I’m sure it would have healed quicker if I would just stay still for a few days but I just can’t help myself. Fuck those shoes. Of course, I like the way they look, so I’ll probably wear them again ahahahaha kill me.
About two weeks ago Keziah finally convinced me to book myself in for my Learner’s test. The test isn’t really an issue, but it is a step towards actually driving a car. The idea of driving terrifies me, but since it’s one of the many things on my list of self-improvement (I might make an entry about this one day), I’m going to make myself do it. I can’t ever see myself becoming a confident, every-day driver, but I have to try.
I have to become better.
I’ve bought myself a new PC! Ryzen 7 1700, GTX 1070, and a bunch of other bullshit – I haven’t kept up with gaming technology so I don’t really know this stuff anymore. I’ve fixed up my old PC and passed it off to my niece. Her most pressing question was “will I be able to play Yandere Simulator on it?” Apparently it’s a game that combines “notice me sempai” anime tropes with Hitman styled gameplay. Where the fuck has this game been all my life!?
Of course, once I get my new, high-powered gaming PC up and running, the first thing I’ll be doing is installing 1999’s Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri. Perhaps the best game ever made, and definitely the most atmospheric. It’s an old game, and even by the standards of it’s time it is ugly as sin, but nothing gets me more immersed in a world like it – fuck Miriam Godwinson, and death to the Lord’s Believers!
Went out for dinner on Thursday night with Harpreet, Keziah and Ethan. Pho 76 was…meh. Ethan was telling about some girl named Brooke that he was trying to pass on to me.
“She’s like really short. I mean really short. Technically she’s a dwarf, but her limbs are in proportion to her body.”
“Oh, so she’s a halfling then?”
This led to references about a story wherein Kez tried to set up one of her (many) brothers with a girl she knew from her WoW guild or something. Eventually, I managed to coax the story out of them. Apparently the girl in question wasn’t always a girl, and she had only just begun her transition. As you can imagine, Keziah’s brother was not happy with this situation.
We then saw King Arthur at Dumaresq St. Cinema. God bless $7.50 tickets. It was alright. I about lost it with the David Beckham cameo – was NOT expecting that one.
This post is a work in progress.
tl;dr : a pretty girl smiled at me and it changed my life
I’ve been keeping a journal since I was about 10 years old. Or rather, I haven’t kept a journal since I was about 10 years old. You see, one day somebody found my diary and the contents thereof were so embarrassing that I destroyed it. But this didn’t stop me from writing. Rather, I would periodically destroy my diaries and start afresh – they weren’t meant to be read, but to be written. Getting my thoughts and ideas out of my head and onto a page was a sort of catharsis for me.
